cd burner problem

this is my cd burner problem (this is pretty common) anyway what happens is that it cannot read BLANK discs (all formats dvd-r cd-r etc.) but it can read discs that already have data on them (i mean they were originally blank cd-r/dvd-r discs) i have a suspision that the burner lense is dirty but i really dont know (i dont even know what model it is, so can someone tell me where to check) song is sanctuary (kingdom hearts 2 intro) by Utada Hikaru

oh by the way do you know how to fix this problem, i have altec lansing speakers, i set the sound to not even a quarter loud and occasionaly the sound just goes, i cant hear any sounds and cannot watch videos although for some reason i can listen to music through itunes
i have to wait for some screeching sounds to come out of my speakers, which takes about 10 minutes, before sound comes back
im just wondering if you know what im talking about and how to fix it, google doesnt help

A PC its an hp with xp media center installed, i’m getting a new comp hopefully soon
i don’t care what computer im going to get as long as it has at east a dual core proccessor, 3gb ram, 250gb+ of mem and a good graphics card like nvidia or ati
i don’t know what i can scrap from this computer although i’ll keep the monitor

WHAT KIND OF COMPUTER ARE YOU GETTING A PC OR A MAC
just wondering If you getting a pc get the new dell vostro 220 mini tower them computers are the more stable then the HP MEDIA CENTER PC 864N
I just did the same thing your going to do your old computer except I use fireworks to take it out after I get the memory out of them old systems.
I did scrap my hp computer for just the memory and fans the other parts we’re useless to me.

You need to buy a new drive when this happens it needs to replaced I had a computer that did this all the time so I just changed out the drive with a spare one I had and it works fine now..

No he won’t I had the same problem with my old hp media center pc 864n I just changed out the bad burner drive with one of my spares from another hp and it works fine I am currently using the 864n as my server for saving my youtube videos to it’s two hard drives.

I didn’t know he had the hp media center pc 864n I had one of these machines before I got my new dell It’s a common problem with the 864n i had one and I had to replace both drives.

I’ve had loads of cd/dvd burners mess up…not detecting/burning etc. The only solid solution I have found is buying an external usb dvd drive, had it for over a year without it messing up yet. I’m convinced that the music/film industry are behind it…something that’s planted in windows updates that screws up drives to stop piracy.

It was too blurry.But the problem am having with my CD burner is that it’s saying that the CD Burner Drive is “corrupted or missing” Any help? Please!!!! I tried system restore & still nada.

nero burning program will pick up the cd burner to burn
