fleece blanket?

By Cut

I am making my soon to be mother in law a fleece blanket for christmas. I have put so much money into this christmas and I really cant spend anymore money. the edges are supposed to be done with pinking shears. I have some but they are not sharp enough to cut through it. is there anything that I can use instead of pinking shears? will it look ok with regular scissors? I am supposed to fringe the edges with them. Thanks for any advice!

it should not be much of an issue. actually, it would look better with regular scissors. It should have the indian skir style to it. hope this helps.

Sure. I think the only downside to using regular scissors is that you won’t have the regular zig-zags of the pinking shears to fringe the edges, and it may be much harder to get them even. As an alternative, you could forget the fringe and whipstitch the edges instead, which also looks nice.

If you don’t have fabric scissors just use regular scissors. It will take MUCH longer but you can do it. I would suggest just fringing the edges and getting a patterned fleece, it’s a easy cheap gift. Always look in the clearance or sale section of your local fabric store for good deals.

you don’t have to use pinking shears. We’ve done all of our with regular scissors. They look fine!
