Games to Play With the Family During the Holidays
ByThe holidays are a good time to get together with the family and have a friendly competition with board games, card games, or acting-out games. Here is a list of great games that the entire family can enjoy during the holidays.
Pictionary
This classic word guessing game is great for all ages and skill levels. Everyone can make rudimentary drawings and everyone can act out words. The fun of Pictionary is seeing how different people’s minds process the words that they are given. Seeing how one can effectively draw a picture so their team can guess the right answer is always a thrill and is a great team work exercise and bonding experience. If you don’t have the actual Pictionary board game it isn’t that hard to make it yourself with a timer, cards, and topics.
Poker
While it may be a little too advanced for the little kids, and some parents frown on young children learning how to play cards, a friendly game of poker or texas hold ‘em can be a great way to pass the time and catch up with family during the holidays. To keep the fights from breaking out, it is best that you don’t substitute the clay poker chips for actual money, but make it a learning experience and fun game for all with no pressure of actual monetary loss.
Balderdash
Maybe it’s just my family, but we can get wild when the Balderdash game comes out. I always considered Balderdash one of the more challenging and rewarding games out there. You actually had to come up with creative ideas and try to stump the teammate to win. It wasn’t a game for people who are not good with vocabulary.
