Homeworld Intro Cutscene + Mothership Launch
By
*sniff* It’s so beautiful…Homeworld cutscenes, despite being built on a really outdated game engine, put many professional movies to shame. This is the background story and intro for Homeworld, one of many beautifully animated cinematics one can find throghout the game. Disclaimer: I don’t own Homeworld, as cool as it would be if I did.

I had to look this up to be sure, and it never occurred to me to do so. When I watched Platoon for the first time about a year ago, I thought “Now I KNOW I’ve heard that song somewhere before.”
Sure enough. I thought I had known it from Homeworld, and that occurred to me a while back, but it was a vague memory and I couldn’t be sure. But there it is…Barber’s “Adagio for Strings”, in chorus. Beautiful.

wow you really need to play homeworld again cataclysm is rated E just like homeworld 1. There is no Homeworld Ascension and that never happened in cataclysm.

Absolutely my favourite game of all time. Tough but fair, especially if you didn’t cheese it. Great cutscenes too. Sad that the sequels didn’t match up.

Wait what? That doesn’t sound right. There were only three Homeworld games:
The original Homeworld
The spin-off sequel Homeworld:Cataclysm
The true sequel Homeworld 2
Cataclysm occurs before Homeworld 2.

This game is on my Hard disk since 1999 and will probably stay there forever, you can play this game over and over for a million times and it will never get old, it has the most original space fiction story, theme and atmosphere, besides Starcraft, these games are the most Marvelous wonders in the gaming world.

There are two sequels to Homeworld 2. they are called Homeworld: Ascension and Homeworld: Cataclysm.
I’m unsure which comes first but I do know that Homeworld: Cataclysm is rated either T or M because it occasionally gives you a view from the cockpit which gets shot and you see blood splatter on the screen

so is there any news about a Homeworld 3? i bought Homeworld when it first came out, knda pot-luck as i’m not a gamer. i have never experienced such an addictive game, the ambience generated is like none other. i’ve got HW2 as well. the graphics are better and the game play is increased, just as addictive though. this game is time less and will be enjoyed years down the line.

Just realized it’s been 10 years since this was released (September 28, 1999). It’s still soooo good.

This was an awesome game, no other RTS games since IMHO have matched it in pure storyline.

The intro to Homeworld knocked my socks off. I was actually so amazed I called my brother into the room to watch it with me.
This was the most cinematic, emotionally involving media display I have ever witnessed. I’ll admit it, I cried manly tears when Kharak burned.

Something about this game ijust put it miles above almost everything else in almost every way.
I got that tingling feeling just watching it on youtube. Makes me want to go play it now but i couldnt ever beat it. Always got stuck on one of the later missions near the end. (like past supernova station)

It’s actually the choral version of Adagio for Strings (by Samuel Barber). Same music, just voices instead of strings and called Agnus Dei.
