How do i work a tealight fondue pot?
Byi recieved it as a gift and there are no instructions. it is heated by a tealight candle.
do i make the fondue in a pot on the stove first and then transfer it to the heated fondue pot or will the tealight candle be hot enough to melt the cheese or chocolate?

Well i wondered hoe it would be hot enough to melt the chocolate. However my son said that it would heat to something like 400 degrees ! when i thought he was being silly he replied then put your hand over a candle, it’s hotter than steam! It certainly worked but dont leave the fondu unattended for obvious reasons, also that the chocolate will eventually ‘cook’ and go crumbly.

Those are made for chocolate.
They won’t get hot enough to melt cheese for fondue.
So to make a cheese fondue, you would have to melt it in a pot and transfer it to the fondue pot.

First of good luck with your new fondue pot and I would not recommend using the fondue pot to make it on top of the stove, make it in another pot, while sturdy enough to serve in, it is not a good idea to cook in it and it will only basically keep things warm, not cook so oil fondues for frying are out, it is more for dessert types and you can use it for cheese ones to.
Make up the fondues for cheese in a heavy bottomed pot as cheese can scorch and for chocolate, melt it with the other ingredients over a double boiler, this insure that you do not overheat the chocolate and it splits on you.
If you have any more questions let me know, the tealight will last 30-45 minute before melting to a puddle of wax, so it is a fast moving event.

No … a tealight won’t be hot enough to melt anything, and probably won’t keep anything warm either! And, since it’s tiny, the hot flame would be very concentrated in just one little tiny spot of the bottom of the pot.. Just buy a can of “sterno” at the grocery store and use that. Usually you’d melt it on the stove and transfer it, but that can be messy. If it’s chocolate though, you could use the fondue pot as the top of a “double boiler,” and melt the chocolate in it (putting the fondue pot over a slightly larger pot of boiling water)…..
