Soak them warm water with antibacterial soap.

Use warm water with antibacterial detergent added (as one would to clean dishes). Place sticky balls in water to soak the dirt and whatever from them. Agitate as needed to help remove stuck on particles…rinse, dry, and reintegrate into toy box.
If you are concerned about E.coli bacteria or such, after washing, drying, etc…, contact your hair stylist and ask if you could bring it in with you at your next appointment for a dip in his/her bactericide bath (Barbisol — that blue stuff with the combs in it). After 10 minutes, the ball will be rinsed and dried again. It will be free of any harmful bacteria that the antibiotic detergent may not have removed.
I do not believe that the second alternative is necessary; however, some people are very particular about cleanliness. If one of their playmates has had a childhood disease, it would be the best possible and practical way of reducing the spread of the harmful virus.
