How do you make gumpaste daisies?

My one year anniversary is coming up, and I would like to make a cake resembling the top tier of our wedding cake. It had edible daisies, and the cake was buttercream frosting. Do you think I should do buttercream or fondant on the cake? Also, what is the easiest way to do daisies out of gumpaste,preferably without a cut-out(i.e. what decorating tip shape should I use). Thank you!
