is Pogo right? we have met the enemy and he is us?
Bywhen our political discourse amounts to ‘i hate candidate X-she’s got fat legs’ or ‘if you disagree with my position you HATE AMERICA’ or ‘candidate Y’s name sounds too foreign’ or ‘candidate Z’s church sounds like a cult’, and so many of us tune in to talk radio shows to get our news, and confuse comedy shows with news shows, and the antics of a screwed up rich girl passes for ‘news’, is it any wonder that a good percentage of our own eligible voters stay home on election day, so many young people could care less about issues facing our country, and a good chunk of the civilized world thinks we’re shallow ignorant boobs?
don and consrgreat, thanks for so ably demonstrating my point for me
serpico7, i can’t believe a literate american hasn’t heard of pogo…second, i can’t believe you’ve never heard talk radio, watched fox, read a newspaper or a magazine…believe me, the discourse is just as shallow off the ‘net…

First off, Pogo who?
Secondly, I’m not entirely convinced that the political discourse being engaged in here at Y/A is entirely indicitive of the rest of the American population. I don’t hear people talking like that outside of the internet.

every last bit of your argument can be blamed on the liberal movement…

I agree…i have realize that all the time that I have been miserable or felt defeated is only because I made myself that way or I have allowed myself to get there… so I definetely agree….

I think you’re right on the mark. It has become a nation of cry-baby finger pointers………..and it angers me.

Yes, and I admit, I have fallen into some of these traps out of frustration.

I also like this quote:
“Pogo says: If you can’t vote my way, vote anyway, but VOTE!”

Porky Pine for President.

The enemy? Well we defeat the purpose of a right and freedom to a voting process by avoiding it for whatever reason.
I think people are just lazy. Then b*tch after. Get off your little mortgage over the hill behinds, cars u can not afford stuffed up
ideals and please VOTE.

Some people talk about people. Some people talk about ideas. It’s free speech, either way.
And some of us here have very serious jobs and this is our play-time.

The enemy is idiots who never self examine – and the fault is on those who defend them and encourage them to be idiots and never learn history or think outside of their narrow little worlds.

Pogo has been right since loonngg before he was ever created. Mankind has always been his own worst enemy. I think a lot of people don’t listen to the issues with the candidates because we are not always told the truth in their speeches anyway. They will promise us anything but never come through. All we can actually do is look at all of their past record and VOTE. I know a certain person said our health care issues would be straightened out and nothing was done. In fact, it has only gotten worse for many. I had a friend (felt like a brother) lost his health care because they said he didn’t need it. He was dying of Cancer at the time. They told him to sign back up and maybe he would be put back on it. He was really sick and didn’t have much strength but did what he could. Of course he died.He couldn’t even afford his medicine at times. All of this makes it hard to see the truth not because we see it all to much. I think people would rather listen to things like that with Paris because it makes the situation lighter,Look at what our politicians are being paid and what they collect on social security in their futures and that is nothinfg but a joke. They don’t even have to pay taxes but they complain that the little man is being given to. That is why our health issues are what they are. Most of Americas money goes to line their pockets. Either now or later.

We are destroying the World that God created but then again their are many who are out their who are calling the lost to Christ in God’s name. So their is the good with the bad. Yes we have fallen. But we were meant to fall since Adam’s fall. But were were also meant to get back up and dust our feet off and not stay down, the bible says their will be trails of many kinds and it is us who have to make it through them tribulations my friend. It is just are you willing to live according to Gods name and fight for the end?
