My Metal Detector Finds from Exmouth & Exeter (year 1)
By Cut
See my collection of metal detector finds, all found in the Exmouth and Exeter areas of Devon UK with my Minleab Explorer SE. If you liked this please browse at my other videos to see my even more impressive 2nd year finds and a recording of a recent beach detecting session during which I find a stunning diamond ring that is not featured on this video. I recorded this video because I am often asked by passers-by (particularly on Exmouth Beach) what sort of things I am looking for, so now …

I started with a fairly cheap machine to begin, it cost me about $120US and I found some nice stuff with it. It’s only worth spending a lot of money on a top of the range machine when you’re sure detecting is the right hobby for you.

Hi.
Nothing. All I do is run them under the tap, sometmes using an old soft tooth-brush to help remove the dirt. Silver coins and gold objects come out of the earth looking pretty much like they did the day they were dropped. Silver fares much worse under the beach, but the salt water doesn’t tarnish gold.

Hi,
No, I started with an SE. The E-Trac has a slight weight/balance improvement over the SE, though not a huge difference if I’m honest. Personally I have never had any problems with aches, pains or arm tiredness using either machine.
I prefer searching inland, but when you have a very productive beach a 5 minute walk from your house, it’s hard to resist when good land is in short supply.

Have you ever used an explorer II?
If so what does the weight/balance feel like compared to the E-Trac?
You always detect on beaches also?

Hi, thanks! The RRP of the Minelab E-Trac is US $1,895. You can get one for quite a lot less than that if you shop around and haggle with dealers.

Ciao! Do you know that your voice is the same of Brian May? Really!

Hi, my detector can find a coin size object down to about 30cm, deeper for larger objects. It is a Minelab E-Trac.

Wow. You must have had a hard time digging that one out.

I went out with my metal detector & i found a Boeing 747.

No idea really, I only go out detecting for the fun of finding old stuff that would otherwise be lost forever. Nothing I find gets sold.

Charkes I halfcrown – awesome, I wish I had one of those. Well done.
I go out 2 or 3 times a week, 2 or 3 hours each time out. I’m up to 8 gold rings now (you see them all together at the end of my beach detecting vid) also one gold locket. I’d rather find a Charles I halfcrown than a gold ring any day.

Wow, it’s amazing that you found all of that in one year. You must go out quite frequently. I’ve just been detecting a couple of months myself, it’s great fun, found a Charles I halfcrown today. Have you found any Gold?

reply to me, about how much u think that all comes up to in cash
November 9th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Not cheap, but money well spent if it finds plenty of the yellow stuff. Good luck to you too.

Thanks very much. Yep, its very exciting every time you locate a promising target. It’s usually junk of course, but the few times you see a glint of silver or gold poking out of the hole make all the hours worthwhile.
