There's some confusion here on terminology.

Component video uses red, green and blue cables for video. There are separate inputs for audio, usually red/white. So 5 cables in all. Component is also called YPbPr.

"Composite" uses yellow for video and red/white for audio. So 3 cables in all.

Component can carry HD content.
Composite is limited to SD.

You should have 5 items plugged in, not six. Make sure you're on the right colors. Avoid using the yellow a/v plug. Also make sure if you're tv has any special settings in the setup menu for manual resolution, turn it to automatic.

If that doesn't work, take 2 tylenol and get back to me in the morning.
Hope you didn't blow anything out in your tv using the yellow a/v plug.

btw; try cycling the power on the tv by unplugging from the wall.

Its more than likely that the TV is not HD ready, is it an older or cheaper model?
can you switch the xbox to non HD output?
AV2 will be the component input, yellow for video , red and white for audio.
