i think you have to see the simple rolex presidential day date gold…..it is a classic…….and doesn’t look cheesy. The diamonds on this one, i think, threw you off….

a cheap SS Rolex is a good start…better than the avg joe. However, if you are a watch connoiseur…..a Rolex Day Date Presidential is the ultimate watch in which one aspires to get.

I like the Day-Date because of the day of the week but it’s etremely expensive and sorta out of style already. I’d prefer the IWC Top Gun.

If you just want to keep time you buy a $20 piece of crap digital watch; it doesn’t weigh as much, keeps time better than a Rolex and the nylon or leather wrist-strap is more comfortable.
You buy a Rolex if you want to wear jewelry as a man without being mistaken for a fruit and because you have some strange fetish for mechanical clock mechanisms(ironically, the Rolex is an anchronism).

I agree, but 20 years ago the brand awareness and consumer knowledge was not as great as it is today with the internet. Nowadays most people won’t do this.

true – the diamonds are horrible and the aftermarket bezel looks really cheesy – my fave is the fluted bezel with the stick hour markers
