Salad spinner?
ByI just got a salad spinner as a wedding gift and I was wondering how to use it? The directions don’t specify whether you are suppossed to put multiple salad ingredients in (carrots, lettuce, dressing etc) or if its just for the greens. Any ideas would help.

Use it just for the greens. It dries them after they are washed. The other salad ingredients won’t be as wet and don’t need drying.

It’s just get get the water off the lettuce leaves when you wash it.

It’s manly used for greens. Usually you can wash your greens in the basket, which is inside the bowl. Use a vinegar-cold water wash to clean them. Then pull out basket, pour off water from bowl, put basket back in, and spin to sling the water off.
The spinner is also good for getting excess water off of thawed frozen spinach.

The purpose of the salad spinner is to remove the water from the lettuce leaves after you wash them.
Place the washed lettuce leaves into the spinner, cover, and depending on the type of spinner – push or pull the lever several times quickly. The centrifugal force will cause the water to fly off of the leaves into the container. (Don’t put the dressing in the spinner.)

I normally do one thing at a time, but don’t over fill it.

I just used a salad spinner my mom sent me for the first time, today. I’m impressed. This is the first salad I’ve ever made where the greens didn’t get all soggy and icky. Wash the greens, and give them a good long spin. Then make the rest of your salad, making sure to dry the rest of the veggies off with a towel or paper towel after washing them. I made the salad early in the morning, and when I went to serve it at dinner time it was still crispy and good.
