Hello again KG

This is a much more difficult question because it strongly depends on the type of chemistry you intend to do.

You need acids (vinegar is a common household acid) and bases (ammonia is a common household base), reagents and solvents (rubbing alcohol, methanol, ethanol are usually available in the house) and chemicals.

Baking soda and baking powder are common (and pure) chemicals. Epsom salts and other medicinal salts are relatively pure, too.

If you’re into organic chemist, you’ll need benzene and toluene (and even gasoline but it’s not very pure).

If you’re doing analytical testing, you’ll need a Bunsen burner and test tubes. You’ll need indicators (which are typically not found in the house) to show that reactions are proceeding to completion.

Oh, yeah — you’ll need safety gear like goggles, shields and a good fume hood – and don’t forget a fire extinguisher.

Good luck

The problem is not obtaining the chemical, it is know what to do with them that has any educational value (and also avoiding poisoning or harming yourself or others).

Try some of the sites below to get an idea of what can be done for Chemistry at home experiments.
