What is a lead dresser used for in the electrical field?

By Cut

I recently applied for a job as an electrician and one of the required tools is a lead dresser. What would an electrician need that for?

Lead dressing refers to positioning wires (leads) to an appropriate location. I don’t know why you would need a special tool for this .

I know there are tools for forming leads of resistors and other components that speeds and neatens the bends that allow them to be inserted into holes in a circuit board, but that would be more for an electronic technician than an electrician.
