What is the magnitude of a scooter traveling in an east direction and then west?

By Cut

A motor scooter travels east at a speed of 14 m/s. The driver then reverses direction and heads west at 19 m/s. What was the change in velocity of the scooter? What is the magnitude?

I assume your question actually says “what is the magnitude of the change in velocity” or it wouldn’t make sense. however:

initial velocity = 14
final v = -19
change means difference so… 14-(-19)= 33
so change in velocity is 33 m/s
