Where can I find good sewing machines that are cheap?
ByMy grandma had a sewing machine and it broke, I really want one for myself, but I don’t have that much $$, so I need to find some place where I can get cheap but good quality sewing machines.
I’ve checked online, but I don’t want to invest any $$ unless I know their quality, because many of the so-called “product review” seem kind of shady, so if anyone has used some of these sewing machines, can you tell me how does it actually work and are they durable, thank you.
Magic-Stitch Cordless Sewing Machine
Shark Mini Sewing Machine
SewPro Quickstitch Sewing Machine
Euro Pro Dressmaker II
White Sew Cute Sewing Machine
Mighty Mender Compact Sewing Machine
Or any other brand that are good and cheap.

The only one I’ve heard from your list is a “dressmaker”. I had one for many years and it was great. I won it. I’m in the USA. I have a “singer” sewing machine. I bought it several years ago for $99. My mother had a pfaff and then a singer.
Go to some of the fabric stores in your area and ask which are popular. And look in the yellow pages as to what stores service what brands and get an idea from that as to what’s in your area. I would guess you’d need a simple sewing machine in that all you need is straight stitch forward and backward, zigzag and maybe a buttonholer.
when you said her machine “broke”…why not take it to one of the places that sells sewing machines and fixes them and have hers fixed? It could be something very simple you know. And, while they’re at it they can clean and oil it for you and it would be good to go.

Shark is a toy you don’t want that machine. Sew Pro doesn’t look very reliable either. Euro pro is also a toy. You don’t want any of these type of machines. All these machines that your looking at don’t work for anything. What I would do is go to your local dealer and ask them if they have any second hand machines in stock. You can usually get a great machine with warranty from a dealer for a fraction of the cost. If they are still too expensive you could always go to Walmart but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve bought a couple of machine on Craigs list that I was surprised they sewed so well and one is the Euro-Pro not the Euro-Pro you have but a full machine. I paid $40 for it and a ton of vintage patterns. They have machines on there all the time for under $100. These machines are older but they usually are high quality. They might need to have a cleaning and oiling which is usually $70 at most dealers. Check it out you have nothing to lose..If you do go that way make sure they let you try the machine before you hand over money and always take someone with you when you go. Also try Freecycle. Find the Freecycle in your area and do a request for a sewing machine. A lot of times people inherit machines and they don’t know what to do with them. You could get that sewing machine for free.. Hope this helps.

go to walmart and get a brother that does straight stitch and zig zag for about 80 dollars, its the best deal i know of thats new . im on my third walmart brother machine, i just bought it three days ago , its electronic with many decorative stitches and about 6 kinds of buttonholes, nothing was wrong with the others either, i just gave the first one to my daughter and bought the next step up, then i saw this one, and moved another step up and it was less than 200 dollars.

Target has a good little Singer for 80 dollars. And it’s a very good brand. I actually have that one and haven’t had any problems with it at all. Super easy to use. One thing you might consider, though, is a used sewing machine. A lot of the times you can find ads in the classifieds for people wanting to sell their sewing machines. Often, they’re really good ones that they just want to get rid of and for relatively cheap (like under 40 bucks). Make sure it works before you buy it, though! Ask to sew a scrap of fabric or something before saying yes to the machine. Cause you can’t return a used machine like you can a new one.

I wouldn’t go with any of them. Basically all you need is straight and zigzag. Personally I would go with a used machine. They don’t make them like they used to. Unfortunately they are mostly cheap plastic and made in China.
Often you can find them in the paper or thrift shops. For about $25, you can get a complete tune-up at JoAnn’s Fabric.

Don’t look for cheap. Look for a good machine first at a reasonable price. A sewing machine is a wonderful item. You can save a lot of money with it, make money with it and have fun.
Try to educate yourself on how to use a sewing machine, and in particular the one you get. I used to work for sewing machine dealers teaching people how to use the machines and doing repairs.
You have no idea of the amount of machines that were gotten rid of just because the owners didn’t know how to properly thread the machine or insert the needle.
If you don’t know how to thread and maintain a sewing machine it doesn’t matter if you spent thousands of dollars under $10
